So why not try a second team near Toronto the fifth largest city in North America. There are three teams in the NY area already, and 3 in South Cali.

Bottom line...Canadian franchises generate more money per capita than a lot of the American teams. Including the Capitals (who I like) so relax please

@The67Blues - Nashville, Tampa, Florida, all have a much better chance of folding than the Caps do. If Ovechkin can find the net more it will help.

@stunami35 - By the way the capitals are the least of the NHL's. Not saying much since they are considered a team on the rise, still losing 7 million.

@stunami35-Canadian teams(only 6)represent 31% of the NHL's entire revenue.The Capitals lost $6.9 million last year, and are ranked 26th most valuable

With so many failed U.S. teams why not give it a shot. Canadian teams are driving NHL revenue anyways, that is the sad reality.

As for the OHL. The perception is that the OHL is an entity representative of smaller uban centers in Ontario, It doesn't translate well in Toronto.

The reasons you suggest with regards to 'real fans' support my argument. Real Toronto hockey fans need an affordable 'big league' alternative.
